May lasted less than 48 hours.
Why I can here you ask?
Very simple: Drugs.
Here's what happened.
May moved her stuff here yesterday, and Nit, being her friend, helped her packing / unpacking. This of course gave her the opportunity to go through a lot of May's personal belongings.
At one point she picked up a small wooden box. May, according to Nit, got all excited and virtually snatched the box from Nit's hands. Nit thought this rather strange, but did not press the issue.
That evening though, when May was in the shower, Nit could not contain her curiosity and opened to box. I agree this was not the polite thing to do, but I have noticed that Thais seem to have a bit of a different attitude to privacy issues.
Anyway, inside she found 3 yabaa pills.
Rather than confronting May directly, she came straight to me. So, when May came out of the shower I asked her what part of the rule 'No drugs' she did not understand. She played dumb, until I showed her the box and pills.
This is when she freaked and got really angry, shouting to me, Nit and the other girls (who had come over as well) that we had no right to go through her stuff and she was gonna call the cops and have us arrested. Yeah, right girl, and how are you gonna explain the dope?
We tried reasoning with her, but nothing seemed to help. So, finally I had Daeng get the guards, who came up and escorted her, and her stuff, out onto the street and put her in a cab.
I am really sorry, mostly for Nit, that things ended this badly, but I really despise drugs and I will not tolerate anybody bringing them into my home.
The thing that has me a bit worried though is that these girls can become vindictive. I'm not really that worried about myself, but more for Nit, who after all works in the same bar as May.
I do have a feeling though that May will likely not show up in the bar anymore, since not only will she have lost face with the girls in the bar, she also knows that I am on quite friendly terms with the owner.
Guess time will tell...
