Met Nit's 'boyfriend' last night. Saay had forgotten her wallet and asked me to stop by the bar to drop it off.

Got there early, but Nit and her hubby :) were already there. I wasn't planning on going over, never know how these guys react, but Nit ran over and asked me to sit with them. She introduced me as a friend of Saay, which of course was the truth, just not the whole truth ;)

He seemed to accept it, although I am not certain if he fully believed her. Saay coming over a bit later, sitting on my lap, put him at ease a bit more though.

Anyway, the guy seemed decent enough, but also rather ... how can I put this nicely? ... boring, plain, shy. Think accountant / civil servant (excuses to any accountants / civil servants out there, just using a familiar image, true or not).

I tried striking up a conversation with him, but it turned into more of a monologue than dialogue. Could hardly get a word out of him.
He did not seem to interact with anyone, just sat there holding Nit's hand.

I could tell that Nit was really relieved to see me, any excuse for a diversion. She told me, in Thai obviously, that she was utterly bored and didn't know if she could handle this much longer. He did not say anything about this, but I got the feeling he did not like her talking to me without him being able to understand.

I left them around nine, and I was rather happy to get out of there. Stopped by Woodstock for some Mexican and decided to head home after finishing my meal. Didn't really feel like going out anymore.

Saay told me when she came back (I had left the door open), that they hadn't left until after 11. The guy just sitting there, buying drinks for Nit and Saay. Saay also mentioned he had asked her about me when Nit had gone to the toilet. Guess he didn't fully buy the story.
