    The Covid-19 thread

Latest news from the UK (18th March), Corvid 19 cases up by nearly 40% in a DAY, how long before it goes exponential? ALL SCHOOLS SHUT INDEFINATLEY FROM FRIDAY This is getting more serious by the day, where will it end, the army on the streets?
  2. Free if you live in England too, and they are delivered for free ☺️
  3. Personally I would be gutted if the board closed, it's by far the most civilised of the Thai centric forums. I rarely post these days since illness has prevented me from traveling to the LOS for several years, and consequently there're few relevant posts I can make. However, I do still visit and read the posts others have made which keeps me current with what's happening, unfortunately the current immigration shenanigans and the strength of the baht don't exactly create a welcoming climate.
  4. I spotted this on YouTube and thought Mekong, who I believe has done a lap or two around the IOM TT circuit, would find quite amusing 'flying docs' take on Motorcycle road racing
  5. Thanks for the info, its reassuring to know that their price does not really need to be taken into consideration.
  6. Any one know the approx price/availibility of 28 packs of 500mg Metformin tablets in Thailand (actual pack size isn't important)
  7. The helicopter belonging to the Thai owners of Leicester City FC has crashed in flames on the car park of the King Power Stadium car park shortly after taking off. Details on who were on the helicopter at the time have not been confirmed, but judging on the pictures I've seen it certainly doesn't look good. I'll post an update later if more news comes in before I hit the sack.
  8. Thanks for the replies Guys, I'm feeling a bit more reassured regarding the Thai banking system, I've never really distrusted the banks themselves, it's the politicians that concern me the most. I've already got a couple of accounts in Thailand, SCB and TMB if they are still open, I've not used them for around 10 years so they may well have been closed, I'll check that out. I've got plenty of time before any move would be possible, there's a lot that would need to be sorted out including a business to close and equipment to be disposed of. The more I think about it, the more daunting the process becomes, but the thought of spending the rest of my time living in my current situation is a powerful motivator. I may be back for more advice soon, once again, Thanks
  9. After the recent announcement by the British embassy regarding no longer providing proof of income certificates, what are the options available/workarounds to Brits wanting a retirement visa? My own situation is I genuinely have a 65,000+ bt monthly income (state pension + rental income) but without proof what can I do? I'm in the fortunate position of being able to deposit 800,000 bt in a Thai bank account, but as I'm sure you will understand, I really don't want to do that for fear of not being able to repatriate the money if I decided Thailand wasn't for me after all, or I needed to return to the UK because of health issues. Worst still, if I fell victim to my less than perfect health and old age, would my (adult) children be able to get the cash back to the UK without major difficulties? I could supply evidence of my income ie several years of UK bank statements showing the state pension going into my account plus a copy of a rental agreement, and would be happy to deposit a meaningful amount 75K - 100K or so into a Thai bank account, could that be acceptable? Any opinions would be appreciated.
  10. NOPE!!! I was right! AS was Buffalo Bill! Not really, it all depends what era you are referring to, myself and Mr Mekong were talking about the Nana Plaza of the late 90's early 2000's (arguably the best years) when G Spot was pretty much in the centre of the 2nd floor. The right hand corner back then was occupied by the Woodstock Bar, I'm surprised no one has pointed this out since it was the weekly meeting place of this very forum, (before it was changed from Nanaplaza.com to Thai360.com) Both Nana-Plaza and Soi Cowboy have changed beyond recognition over the last 30 years
  11. 'Are you sure about location if my memory serves me right (questionable) Rainbow was / is Back Right corner ' You're absolutely correct, Rainbow was in the back right-hand corner, G Spot was a 2/3 unit bar in the back centre of the 2nd floor try this web address to confirm http://www.bangkokeyes.com/gspot5008.jpg
  12. I bought several 1000 baht bank notes back with me from a trip to Thailand way back in 2008, I was intending to use them on a subsequent trip but forgot about them. I 'found' them the other day when clearing out my safe, the question is, are they still likely to be legal currency?
  13. That's a blast from the past, not heard his name in a long time, glad you're still OK Hugh
  14. Many years ago I returned in the early hours to my room at the Nana to find a 'security' guard lying asleep across the corridor, while a rat the size of a cat finished off his supper.

    Pronunciation

You seem to agree with my former young lady and myself, I think your transliteration is more accurate than mine, it will be interesting to see what others think, and if 'pa Thai yah' irritates others as much as it does me.
