"When the data is adjusted to account for Americans per capita, Pakistan turns out to be the most dangerous country. After that, Thailand, the Philippines, Haiti, and Honduras round out the five most dangerous countries."

It's a surprise to see LOS more dangerous than Haiti or Honduras.

It's based on percentage of US travelers who died while visiting the countries.

Also, the study excluded any country that received fewer than 100,000 American visitors between 2009 and 2016.  PNG had less than 100.000 more than likely.

Having made a few trips to Pakistan during that period, I would wonder what the hell 100k Americans were doing visiting the place?!  Wonder if it counts dual nationals.

And having made, what - 30, 40 - trips to LOS in the same years, I wonder just as much how I'm not among the stats for LOS damage...

Used to go to Honduras a lot, involved a young lady.  Guns everywhere, always had to watch out.

I would take this report with a grain of salt -- the number of US visitors to Thailand that they use appears to be more that an order of magnitude less that that reported in the Wikipedia.  :dunno:

Well visiting implies leaving afterwards, if they were eaten they weren't visitors :)
