Wiki Loves Monuments Thailand

Once a year the wikimedia foundation organises a photo contest called wiki loves monuments. In this contest people are asked to photograph monuments. This is the first year Thailand participated.

I volunteered to be one of the judges for Thailand. And had to preselect about 20 photos from a batch of 591. This is my selection:

All 1751 Thailand photos:

Nope. Read the rights on wikipedia. You basically declare the photo to be free of rights. Which means everyone can copy and use it as long as they assign the credits back to you. And the image must stay free of rights.

The "Free" in all of the wikimedia foundation projects does not mean "free as in free beer" it means free of copyrights. Which means anyone can copy and use it as long as the text stays free of rights and is attributed back to the original publisher!

One of the projects slogans is: Because knowledge should be free!

Hi,

Beautiful photos, but I find it very hard to believe the first one didn't get Photoshopped.

Sanuk!

Almost positive it has been photoshopped, the haze or fog in the foreground is low, front and centre and higher at the edges of the photo, too perfect, a natural haze would drop at one side or other.

Also I believe that photographers now appreciate the use of photoshop to make photos better, with the abhorrent attitude, towards it, that they used to have, now reserved for factual fakery rather than aesthetic enhancement.
