Flashermac
Ramathibodi is a decent enough hospital, some sort of ties to Mahidol University. I've even gone there. Hope the catch the evil doers and make them pay the bills. (Then shoot them.)
Boo Radley
I've been following the story with some interest and there was an update last Friday (30/08/13) in the Thai media, for anyone that's interested. Photos from Thairath (30/08/12). Nong Air was pictured with officials in Thairath and other papers, raising her left arm and reportedly smiling, after two successful operations at BKK's Ramathibodi hospital. The Thai plastic surgeon who had operated on her had been able to free her arm that had become attached to the left side of her body by scar tissue from the burns. Scar tissue was also removed from her heel so she can walk normally now. Unfortunately, as for the rest of the scars on her body, the plastic surgeon was unable to improve them with skin grafts since she did not have enough good skin left on her body to transplant. Nong Air said she was very grateful to the doctors for helping her and for giving her back the use of her arm again. She's going back to the care home in Kamphaeng Phet province where she was being looked after prior to her hospital admission. Eventually she will be sent on and taught a trade of some sort and begin schooling, since she's been quoted as saying she's never been to school and has expressed a wish to start school. A sum of 30,000 Baht in cash was also presented to her by Mr Phairot Phutthiwisit from Kamphaeng Phet's Institute of Justice by way of compensation for her injuries. Mr Phairot Phutthiwisit also commented on the progress of the case, saying police had as yet been unable to locate and arrest the couple responsible for the girl's injuries but Kamphaeng Phet's Institute of Justice had already paid 30,000 Baht for a lawyer in civil proceedings as well as 60,000 Baht in court fees. The criminal case was a matter for police. Mrs Dawangomon Ramduang, social development officer for care homes in Kamphaeng Phet province said that she had spoken to police and they had informed her that while they had as yet not been able to find the couple, the case was not closed and they were still actively pursuing the couple. She also disclosed that a fund for donations had been set up for Nong Air in Krungthai Bank (Kamphaeng Phet branch), savings account number 620- 0- 65192- 2. So far, donations from the Justice Institute and members of the public total 613,439 Baht. http://www.thairath....t/region/366799 (30/08/13)
