Floating body in Canal wasn't Dead!

Came across this story in the Thai news today. Police received a report of a body of a woman seen floating in the moat in Chiang Mai on the morning of 23/04/12. On arriving at the scene with rescue services the body appeared lifeless and they assumed it was a murder and waited for a forensics doctor to arrive while large crowds of onlookers gathered. Suddenly after about an hour people saw the body move and realised she was still alive! Rescue services dived in, pulled her to the bank and she was rushed to hospital.

Officials now think she was drunk or it was a failed suicide attempt and are still trying to identify her.

Rescue services training manual - excerpt - 'if body is not moving, it must be dead. If it is moving, it may be dangerous, shoot it and then ask, if it is a good or bad guy, if it moves again, shoot it until it is not moving. If body is not moving, it must be dead. '

Interesting. Hadn't heard of drown proofing before but just looked it up on Google and seem to remember doing something similar as kid, although I thought I'd invented it at the time lol

Maybe it was that, in combination with an ample cleavage sometimes found in women of a certain age, acting as a buoy that kept her afloat and her head out of the water.

Anyway, hope she makes a recovery. Will be interesting to hear the story of what happened if it comes out.
